This year we will be presenting a panel on the Diversity and Development of Minority Superheroes in Entertainment. Come, listen and participate!

Primary Leader: Steve Jefferson, Ed.D. – Co-Chair, Buy Your Child A Book Project


Dr. Jefferson, Executive Director of Los Angeles Academy of Media & Technology has developed a community partnership with ABC-Disney’s Talent Development and Diversity Program three years running to train inner-city youth in filmmaking.  Dr. Jefferson designed the media and film program for ICEF Public Schools teaming up with Peter Heller, producer of the hit movie “Like Mike” starring Lil’ Bow Wow and Lathan Hodges, former head of the Children and Entertainment of BET to provide a quality hands on experience for inner-city youths.


Second Leader: Riley Rose McKesson – Co-Chair, Buy Your Child A Book Project, Author of Vela Kurv Legacy Books and President of McKesson Enterprises.

Industry Affiliation: Writer/Producer of novels and film (see IMDB credits); Financial specialist for charter schools, statewide in California; currently collaborating with Chas. Floyd Johnson, Exec Producer of NCIS, CBS/Paramount


Third Leader: Sheryl Turner –President, SP Turner Group, Beverly Hills; President, Piercy Charitable Foundation

Industry Affiliation: Award-winning book Publisher; Business Management and Consulting expert; Charter School leader and member of various nonprofit boards of directors including Mid-City West Neighborhood Council elected official; currently working on biography of silent film star Harry Langdon with noted Hollywood photographer Harry Langdon, Jr.

Panelist: Everett Arthur Oliver - Radio Host                   


A 15-year veteran of animation production, focal points are in the areas of: Voice-Over Casting, Animation, (Daytime and Primetime animated series including the Emmy Award winning shows: The Simpsons and King of the Hill) and Film Production.  As an Independent Producer, I have recently joined an Internet radio station ( as a radio announcer.

 Suzanne J. Studer – Writer/Director

Suzanne has years of experience in writing for a great variety of mediums.  She has penned stage plays which were produced off-off Broadway, been published in literary journals, won awards for her short stories, and most recently, won the Broad Humor Film Festival’s award for best screenplay, for ‘Izzy & Allie’, as well as winning the best screenplay award at the Hollywood Nexus Screenwriting competition, for ‘The Everlasting Tesla Coil’.   Suzanne has directed many of her own plays off-off-Broadway, including ‘More Than This’ and ‘Snow’s Chance’.  Suzanne’sdirecting work has also included several short films, including ‘Losing Elliot’ and ‘Blood Games’

 Conrade Gamble – SAG/Stunt/Technical Advisor


As a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 2001, Conrade has extensively worked in more than 25+ major films and over 60+ episodes of prime-time television as a stunt performer. Credits include The Green Hornet, Takers, Mission: Impossible 3, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Crime Scene Investigators (CSI), CSI: NY, and The Unit, to name a few. Additionally, Conrade has also worked as a technical advisor for the hit CBS prime-time series NCIS.




Linda McCullough – Screen Actors Guild member since 1976


She gained her SAG credentials on Baretta with the now infamous Robert Blake. Starring as the long lasting Hillary Bauer on Guiding Light, then as Vinnie Barbarino’s (John Travolta’s) girlfriend in Welcome Back Kotter, and working with Greg Evigan in the TV Series, B.J. and the Bear.



We will feature selected films in the Workshop and they will be discussed with the attending audience and featured panelists.
